(Naples, FL) – Youth Haven’s Chief Executive Officer, Ron McSwiney, accepted an award this afternoon of $7,500 from The Community Trust Fund of The League Club, Inc. allocated towards the provision of mental health therapy scholarships for children in the community.
“Many children in our community are struggling each and every day with mental health challenges that significantly interfere with the way they think, feel, and act,” said McSwiney. “Without early intervention, focused treatment, and the development of coping strategies and healing opportunities, these young children often go on to suffer in silence. We thank the members of The League Club for joining with us to positively impact the lives of children in the community so as to negate the possibility of them continuing to suffer with grave emotional and behavioral problems long term.”
This gift enables Youth Haven’s Children & Family Counseling Center’s clinical team of licensed mental health clinicians to provide 150 new counseling sessions for children and adolescents in the community whose families could otherwise not afford this needed level of support for them.
“Like physical health, mental health is important at every stage of life,” added McSwiney. “The more we can increase a family’s awareness about the importance of protecting and nurturing the mental health of their children and provide them access to quality compassionate care, the better chance their child(ren) will have in overcoming these real, painful, and oftentimes severe disorders.”
