Mold can be one of the most dangerous toxins present in your home, with the most common cause attributed to water leaks. Follow these guidelines to keep your home safe and mold-free:
If you are aware of a leak, inspect and repair it immediately. The longer a leak is present, the more likely mold will surface.
Notice a damp, unpleasant smell? This is a telltale sign of mold. Trust your nose, and contact a certified mold remediator immediately.
Not sure if you have a leak? Common indicators include: higher water bills, floor warping, rusting, or structural damage. You can also use your water meter to check for hidden leaks. Turn off all faucets and water-based appliances and record your meter reading. Check your meter again in an hour. If your meter has moved, you have a hidden leak in your home.
