Founding Partner Russell Budd’s commitment to Avow began in 2007 and has only grown stronger over the years. He has
earned membership in Avow’s prestigious 1983 Society, a distinction reserved for donors whose cumulative contributions exceed $25,000. His generosity reflects a deep belief in ensuring that everyone facing serious illness, grief, or loss has access to compassionate care and support.
In 2022, Russell joined the Avow Board of Directors, bringing his leadership, vision, and passion for community service to the organization. Two years later, that commitment expanded even further when PBS Contractors became an official Avow Corporate Partner and event sponsor, supporting key initiatives such as the Annual Butterfly Release and Fall Into Fashion Show.
PBS Contractors’ support has helped Avow provide:
- 100 hours of grief support for individuals coping with loss.
- Camp MendingHeart experiences for 30 grieving teens, helping young people find healing and connection after the death of a loved one.
- 21 days of hospice care for patients without insurance.
- 20 sessions of integrated therapies, including music and massage therapy.
- 15 palliative care visits for individuals living with chronic illness.
Russell’s Barbecue has become a hallmark of local philanthropy, bringing together friends, neighbors, businesses, and nonprofit organizations in the spirit of generosity. The event supports a variety of worthy causes, including Avow, and has grown into one of the area’s most impactful grassroots fundraising efforts. In 2023, Russell’s Barbecue reached a remarkable milestone, raising $38,000 for Avow.
